Keep St. Louis County Government Accessible for All

  • Do not move St. Louis County government to Northwest Plaza.

  • Keep county government in a central location for all county residents.

  • Insure residents can use public transit to access government services.

  • Insure adequate and safe parking for residents.

  • Building must be easily accessible for those with disabilities.

You may have heard that St. Louis County is considering moving county government offices to north county. The current St. Louis County Administration Building has been in use since 1971. The building does not meet the city of Clayton’s fire code due to the absence of sprinklers throughout the building. The county must either vacate its current headquarters or complete the necessary updates by the end of 2027. Updating the current headquarters to meet fire code compliance and address asbestos issues would cost more than $100 million.

County leaders believe moving and leasing another building would be the most cost-effective in the short term. The lease for the new location could be up to ten years.

The county is currently considering moving to north county at The Crossings at Northwest Plaza. We think this location is not centrally located enough for residents and county employees.
